Join us for the 8th annual Take Root: Red State Perspective on Reproductive Justice conference, February 23rd-24th, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma!
The activist potential of people in the red states has not been effectively encouraged, nurtured, or sustained. National Advocates for Pregnant Women (NAPW) and the Women's and Gender Studies Program at the University of Oklahoma know that there are people in the red states who care deeply about reproductive justice and can become effective grassroots and state based activists when they have the support to do so.
Eight years ago NAPW helped start the Take Root: Red State Perspective on Reproductive Justice conference to provide this support. Each year hundreds of people, especially young ones, come to Norman, Oklahoma to participate in this inspiring event to discuss reproductive health, rights, and justice issues. The conference features speakers and leaders from the South and Midwest.
In these perilous political times, it is imperative that we recognize and provide resources to the leaders and activists in the red states who are best situated to challenge the many attacks we face to social and reproductive justice.
Check out NAPW's two panel sessions at this year's conference: "Punishment is Not the Answer: Using Numerous Strategies Across Multiple Movements to Protect and Advance Human Rights and Dignity" and "Birth Justice is Reproductive Justice."
We hope to see you there! Visit the Take Root website for this year's conference schedule and program, including more information about NAPW's sessions.
